Passt! – An Interactive Garment

Finding clothing that fits is not always easy. When a body deviates from the norm more than usual, it becomes almost impossible to find something suitable. This is exemplified by the fashion mannequin: fashion is oriented toward an idealized body. Even the industrial ready-to-wear system is based on standardized sizes, leaving little room for variation. So how must clothing be designed to adapt to the individual shapes and needs of the wearer?

Passt! seeks to answer this question by transferring the principle of adjustability to a garment. Using drawstrings, the rectangular base pattern can be adjusted in length and width. This not only enables a flexible fit that conforms to any body but also allows almost endless styling variations. Passt! is available in two widths and three lengths, covering clothing sizes XXS–XXL. In its long version, it can also be worn as a dress. Function and aesthetics form a unity: clear geometry alternates with playful folds. The garment interacts with the wearer, transforming with them.

Passt! breaks with rigid notions of standardized bodies.
Passt! is as diverse as the people who wear it.
