Diagnosis: Tristesse. How can design in public spaces provide first aid?

Large parts of Eisenhüttenstadt stand empty and deserted. The residential complex 6 is symptomatic of this. During the day, the many green spaces and paths between the blocks are deserted; at night, they are frightening. Hardly anyone is out walking. No one says ‘good day’. We want to counteract this – and be friendly. With stickers, wind chimes, flags and installations, we say a friendly Привет, Hallo, Ahoj, Witaj or Cześć and tell of the diversity of a city with residents from all over the world. We want more smiles! We play with typography in motion and space, beyond classic media and formats, and stand out with clear colours. In this way, we want to give WK6 a new sound and wish the people there a ‘good day’.
