While the act of eating food is a part of everyday life, there are some aspects that many consumers are not aware of. TableAware is a project that shows data from studies about food waste in households in Germany. The film deals with specially created tableware objects (plates, bowls) that are made of two different materials, which are symbolizing proportions of food consumed (porcelain) and food wasted (bioplastic). The contrasting physical appearance of those materials stands for this imbalance in the perception of food, which tends to neglect the wasted part.  Each plate represents different pieces of data with the aim of creating a symbolic picture in the viewers’ minds – focusing on the part of the food cycle that consumers have the biggest impact on: their eating habits.
